According to Taiwan media reports on June 12, TSMC is expected to build a plant using 2 nanometers of (nm) technology in Hsinchu, Taiwan.
TSMC's 3nm plant environmental assessment in Nanke, Taiwan, was successfully passed last year. It will be located in Hsinchu's 3nm R&D plant EIA. It also passed the preliminary review yesterday. After the EIA confirms the conclusion, it is expected to catch up with the mass production schedule.
Taiwan media said that TSMC also revealed its determination to continue to deepen Taiwan. It is expected that the research and development and mass production of the 2nm plant will be placed in Hsinchu five years later.
Zhuang Zishou, senior director of the Taiji Power Plant Office, said that assuming that further research and development of 2 nanometers process, it is necessary to leave R & D talents in Hsinchu to avoid brain drain, so from the point of view of the overall industry and talent layout, it is still hoped that the R & D plant will be located in Hsinchu.
